Comments policy

Comments from people who have something civil, constructive or entertaining to say are welcome, as are comments pointing out any factual errors (links to evidence are expected in the latter case). A good comments thread resembles a conversation between friends, or at least between people who demonstrate mutual respect and politeness.

Comments that are ill-informed, snarky, pointlessly irrelevant or deliberately offensive will be ignored, mocked, edited or deleted according to my mood.
