There is nothing anyone can say to ever make what happened right, or justified...but how about sparing a thought for those of us being dragged through the mud by average Joes half-cocked and extreemly hurtful comments.

FYI - my parents mortgaged their house and took no salary for the pioneer years of trying to start that school. Apart from the roof over our heads, we were poor growing up. I got dragged round local schools (being above the grade levels accommodated by Lakeside) based on where I could get scholarships, and spent my school holidays working in the school 'helping out'. I missed out on school trips, camps and any of the things normal kids get growing up as we 'had no money'.

My father took LESS that the minimum wage for his position the entire time he was at that school and our family time and happiness was sacrificed while the families and students always came first. My father missed my highschool graduation and several birthdays because he was in meetings with 'hard up' parents trying to accomodate their children. I even remember my Dad meeting with a parent on Christmas Day over some drama or other. My father did not take any salary/compensation pay rise for at least the last 10 years, and he was actually being paid LESS that most of the teachers there, and almost half of what the book-cooking college accountant was paying herself.
(Many of the press' comments are coming from her husband trying to cover her arse)

I have personal knowledge that well over 80% of the families were paying below cost or NO fees to send their children to the school. My father believed that private education shouldn't be exclusive to the socially elite.

But no, none of that is ever taken into
consideration. The parents throwing stones now, are the ones who came into the office crying..week in and week out that they couldnt afford fees, uniforms, books, stationery and would always get sympathetic handouts.

My father made a grave mistake. One that has cost him and his family more than you finger pointing, high and mighty hacks will ever know. He did far from the right thing. He dug a hole and didn't know how to get out of it. And wasn't the Lakeside Church so sympathetic, when the entire Board knew there was dire financial stresses they turn their back and refuse to help years before this hit a brick wall....

There is always two sides to a story, and my side mightn't take any of this shame and disgrace back. But its the truth...
