Proof of age not required
October 5, 2007 on 1:19 pm | In Uncategorized |When I moved up here from Sydney many years ago, I brought about 40 cases of wine with me. It took me more than two years to drink it all, by which time my financial situation directed me more to wine in cardboard boxes.
Recently I’ve been trying to re-establish a modest cellar. Back in Sydney I used to buy through either The Wine Society or David Jones Connoisseurs Club but I ended my membership of the former and the latter seems to have been swallowed up in the ubiquitous Cellarmasters group somewhere along the line. Not that I have anything against Cellarmasters but when it comes to wine I’m a snob. If all I’m offered is bland middle-of-the-road stuff then I’d prefer to stick with the casks and save money.
Fortunately I found an online supplier that’s really good (and no they don’t pay for blog endorsements lol*). It’s Wine List Australia and so far I’ve found them completely reliable, plus their promotional stuff isn’t too over the top. Apart from the usual varietals they’ve got an excellent range of malt whiskies and I’ve been having fun sampling their range of ports, muscats and tokays. What more could you want?
*Though guys if you do happen to stumble across this, a free bottle of Talisker in my next order as a gesture of appreciation for the free plug wouldn’t be inappropriate
